ABSTRACT: The Impact of Apprenticeship Programs on Vocational Skill Acquisition investigates the effectiveness of apprenticeship programs in enhancing skill development among vocational students. This study explores the impact of structured apprenticeships on skill acquisition, employability, and career readiness. The objectives were: to assess the perceived benefits of apprenticeship programs for vocational students and employers, to evaluate the skills acquired through apprenticeships and their relevance to industry needs, and to identify challenges and best practices in implementing apprenticeship programs. A survey design was chosen to gather comprehensive data from apprentices, vocational educators, and employers, ensuring a broad perspective on the program's impact. A sample size of 300 respondents was selected using a purposive sampling technique to include participants with direct experience in apprenticeship programs. The case study focused on the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB) apprenticeship programs in Lagos State. Findings indicated that apprenticeship programs significantly improved participants' technical skills, employability, and job retention rates. It was recommended that vocational institutions should expand apprenticeship opportunities, strengthen partnerships with industry stakeholders, and provide continuous support and monitoring to ensure the quality and effectiveness of apprenticeship programs.
